We love our lingerie and we want you to feel the same way! If you're worried about the fit, the size, or your bras are just not comfortable, follow our easy to use trouble shooting guide below:
STEP 1 – FITTING THE BACK BAND
Is the back band too small?
First, lift up your arms and check the following:
Is the back band too tight and digging in? If yes, then your bra is too tight.
Is the underwire (or casing) too tight against your body? If yes, then again your bra is too tight.
Does the underwire (or casing) fit the natural curve under your bust or does it stop short? If it is short, we recommend sizing a size up.
Next, look straight at yourself in a mirror and lift up your arms, is the breast tissue spilling over the band under your arms? If so, we recommend going up a back size; you will feel more comfortable i.e. from 34" to 36".
Is the back band too big?
Lift up your arms and check that the under-band fits snugly, the underwire (or casing) should be sitting on the body comfortably.
Next, check that the band is not riding up at the back and that it does not move or slide around when you move. If so, this may mean that the back band is too big and you need to go down a size i.e. from 36" to 34".
Is the front of your bra being pulled down?
This is a sign that the back band, the cup or both are too small. To check, look to see if the underwire (or casing) is sitting comfortably under your bust, following it’s natural curve.
If your bra is pulling down, go up a back size i.e. from 34" to 36" or up a cup size i.e. AA bra to A bra.
Is the "bridge" (centre front joining the cups) lifting away from the body?
The centre front of any underwired bra should lie flat against the body, the exception to this rule is when you are wearing a non-wired bra.
The underwire plays an important part in "securing" the bridge flat to the breast bone and creating a firmer fit, if there is no wire to do this the fit will be much softer (which many actually prefer!) and this means the bridge can lift slightly away from the breast bone.
As long as you are happy with the fit in every other area, your non-wired bra will still give you great shape and support.
If a wired bra lifts away from the breast bone at the bridge, this could be a sign that the cups are too small and you need to go up a cup size i.e from "AA" to "A".
STEP 2- FITTING THE STRAPS
Do the shoulder straps dig in?
Are your shoulder straps digging in at the top of your shoulders?
There are two reasons that this could be happening. Firstly, you may have the shoulder straps adjusted so that they are too short. Secondly, the back band may be too loose therefore forcing the shoulder straps to support your bust.
If so, try loosening your shoulder straps or go down a back size i.e. from 36" to 34".
STEP 3 - FITTING THE CUPS
Is the underwire digging in?
Does the underwire of your bra dig into your breast tissue and is the breast comfortably and completely encased within the bra cup?
If the answer is no, you need to try a bigger cup size i.e swapping a "AA" for an "A".
Are the cups too small?
Take a quick look down or at yourself straight on in the mirror and then to your side, is your breast tissue bulging out over the top of the cup?
If it is, your bra cup is too small and you need to go up a cup size i.e from "AA" to "A".
Are the cups too big?
Do the cups creases dent inwards or do they gape at the top? Is there space between your bust and the cup? If there is, you might want to try going down a cup size i.e from "A" to "AA".
If however, the cup fits snugly everywhere else but is gaping where the cup meets the strap, it could be that your bra is the wrong shape for you or that the shoulder straps are too short. Try tightening the shoulder straps and tightening the back band. If that doesn't work, try looking at different styles of bras - we know for instance that if your bra gapes, full cup bras are better than plunge or balcony.
Do you have one breast bigger than the other?
Most women do so don't worry, it is not unusual but it is important that you fit the bra to the bigger breast.
Try tightening the shoulder strap on the smaller side to avoid the cup sagging and if required, add a little booster pad to the cup of the smaller breast.
Remember most of the Little Women Label bras come with removable booster pads so you can take one out of the bigger side and add it to the cup on the smaller side and you can always ask us for a spare!
