Should lingerie be worn as outer wear?

We decided to delve in. With the upcoming warmer months ahead of us, why not...? If you have often found yourself wondering whether that lace satin dress under your college’s blazer is from the lingerie or outerwear section, you're not alone!

For years, fashion runways across the globe have boasted plenty of lingerie-inspired looks many of which are evolving from the boudoir, the Hollywood red carpet, and all the way into fashion blogs and even perhaps your office.

Thanks to several innovative brands and designers "lingerie as outerwear doesn't just mean letting a camisole peek through your blazer anymore," said Cora Harrington, founder and editor of The Lingerie Addict.

Chemises in pastel colours, chiffon, lace, silk and satin— alongside plenty of skin — could be found everywhere on the Paris Runways for Spring/Summer ’16 as lingerie-inspired corsets, slip dresses, rompers, mini dresses, jackets, sheer shirts, shimmery gowns in soft palettes and lacy tops with built-in moulded bra cups went seamlessly from the boudoir to the high street!

"Part of it is the consumer's desire to create a unique look. A flash of lace or a luxury bra under a sheer top tends to draw more attention than the sparkle of jewelry," said Luis Paredes, publisher of online trade magazine the Lingerie Journal. "Brands and retailers have also become very savvy in fueling this trend by helping their consumers pair ready-to-wear with intimates."

With an array of celebrities wearing bralettes, corsets and high-waisted knickers as part of their daily look offstage, on the red carpet and strolling the high street, it was only a matter of time before it caught on in mainstream fashion. This trend can also be noted on many fashion bloggers all across the globe.

High fashion publications are seen showcasing lingerie and outerwear combination-inspired looks. It is quite clear lingerie designers are creating pieces with the thought in mind that they are meant to be seen

So if your proud of your collection of lingerie and would love to stylishly pair it with your outerwear…we have given you the official nod.
